Want To In Your Eyes- Conway Twitty

ok so this song is sooooooo G, like, I can not believe how gangsta this song is... especially coming from the person who is singing it..... take a listen and I am sure you will agree with me...

^
^
^
Family Guy watchers should recognize this song from one of the episodes... I found the same video that they used in that episode, but I could not find one that I could embed it into the post, but this one works just fine...

... but yeah, back to the G'ness of this song...

how OD are the lyrics?!?!?!.... I was def going to but up a couple lines, but NAH! the whole thing needs to be up here:

I see the sparkling little diamond on your hand
It's plain to see that you've already got a man
I can see you're not about to fall for any of my lines
I see the want to in your eyes

Deep in your smile there's a quiet, soft desire
Like the embers of a once raging fire
You know I could light that fire again,
you know it isn't wise
I see the want to in your eyes

How strong's a band of gold
Is it strong enough to hold,
when a love has grown cold
and A woman wants a love, sweet
and warm

How many women just like you have
silent schemes.
How many men like me do they sleep
with in their dreams
You can stay or you can go and
although I sympathize
I still see the want to in your eyes
I see the want to in your eyes

...like seriously.... he is straight up saying "clearly you got a man, but it is plain to see you still want the D" hahahaha!!!!.... that is so gangsta, and then you see who is saying this and it is an old white country singer!... and this just goes to show that country singers really do sing about any and every situation lol.... sooo G, song is on repeat right now

.... maybe a sample coming soon.... maybe...

"I like the sunrise"

I wacthed the sun rise on my city early this morning with a free slice of pizza and $20 more than I came out with. Last night wasn't what I excepted it to be I was out with 2 friends. 1 male 1 female. It honestly consisted of wandering and singing and danceing through the streets of my beloved city to our own renditions of Michael Jackson tunes.

Side note: I love Michael Jackson. When I was born he was already an international superstar. HE WAS ALREADY A GOD! His music has been there my whole life and his career is an inspiration to everyone who aspires to be an artist. His career redefined and reformated what a music career could be. To me he was larger than life. The only person I've ever forgotten was human. Everything about him: his talent, his lifestyle, his appearence, his fans, were so beyond anything we commonly know. He was one of a kind and accepting that not only is he just like the rest of us but that he is gone is a task that may prove to be impossilble. However, my personal sorrow of his loss can not compare to my mothers. She recalls watching the Ed Sullivan Show and seeing the Jackson 5, led by little Michael, the world totally ignorant of what he would become. To love him and his music for this long and observe his transtion as it happened is something I can not concive. As hard as it is. It is reality. Requim In Pace: Michael Joe Jackson 1958-2009

With that said, back to the story…

So we talked and danced and talked of our favorite Michael songs them we heard the sound of "Billie Jean" eminating from a hotel room, we attepmted to get into the party but my 2 friends were not dressed in acceptible attire according to the bouncers standards. So we wondered somemore. After walking North for some time my friend stated that he knew a "funny bar" in the area. I wasn't sure what he meant but I had to use the bathroom so I figured why not. When we got to block I look around and I notice that the block is really gay. Not in the slang sence, it's REALLY GAY not that I have a problem with that, it's just not my territory. Anyway I relictantly entered the bar and my friend says "and this is the place where I had my first bartending gig". Nice. As cool as I am with it I don't know if I could do that job, like I said, just not my territory. Anyway the guy behind the bar claimed that he didn't recognize my friend ever working there whiched pissed him off so we left after more walking and talking they decided to go home. I had other plans. I love my city and girl I get with can consider herself a misstress. One of my favorite activities is to put on some music and stripe through the aveneues of my beloved. Tonights sound track- "The Very Best of John Coltrane". I walked down Broadway from Times Square to Astor Place. Around 28th street I think I saw sirens up ahead. I kept kept walking til I got to the origin. It was a club, something had gone down and a guy was on a streacher getting put into an amblulance. I pause to examine the scence and when I glanced down there was a $20 bill at my feet. I guess someone was drunk and pulled out a wad at the food vender on the block. This was reminescent of two summers ago when I found money on separate occasions which ended up equiling over $150. I'm good at finding money, hopfully this the the start of a good trend. After walking a couple of blocks more I observed yet another ambulance in front of a club, this time with a young lady as the unfortunate party in the streacher. No money to be found this time though. The rest of the walk to Astor Place was pretty uneventful. I simply enjoyed the soundtrack provided by John. My game plan was to take the M1 bus up which ends up right on my block. I looked at the bus schedule and saw I had some time before the bus came so I decided to get a bit to eat. I figures the pizzaria on St. Marks would do. Because of the cash I just found I decdied to spurge- TWO TOPPING PIZZA! YEAH! (hey for New York that's splurging) As I approached the pizzeria I saw people around a guy with a guitar in one of the open the doorways. When I got there he was playing and singing ”Waterfalls” by TLC. With the peole around him singing along. There was one woman who was really into it, she even knew Left Eyes rap verse. So I odered my pepperoni and mushroom pizza and considered getting a beverage. While I was waiting for them to finsh heating my slice up one of my fellow patrons asked if I knew of any after hours spots. I told him about one spot I knew about that was open 24 hrs and was a short walk away. While I was having the conversation my pizza came. I noticed that no cost was presented for my slice, I proptly dipped before they noticed their error. I sat in door way at the first stop of and M1 bus and ate. Then it began, the sun rose on my love and I watched her come to life. My Coltrane album had finished at this point so for this moment I put on Blackstar "Respiration" my New York anthem. My chariot arrived to take me home and I rode and dozed off a bit. I goof home with a full stomach and more money than I came out with …I love this town

I'm sorry

My computer totally died on me. I've been really slacking on the blog. Props to Ron for keeping it up though. Anyways, the good news is your boy just copped the brand new iPhone 3Gs. And it is GLORIOUS! I knew I would like it but it has destroyed my expectations. I endorse it 100% and stand by saying it's the best phone on the market. I've had it for a week now and everyday I've discover some new cool use or capitility the iPhone posseses. The other part of this good news is that I am now a mobile blogger. I'm on the long island railraod now typing this thing. So expect the triumphant return of That Guy Ra to the blog. I've missed it and still have plenty of things I want to address and share with the world. I'm heading to the city right now to party and such, I'll let you know if anything intresting happens.

... but THEN a man standing next to us, out of nowhere just starts talking and he's like "I'm really sorry to do this, but can ya spare 5 or 10 cents" and he's like buggin out, kinda has that crackhead bop going on... and that's the real OD only in New York moment...

The Start Of A Beautiful Union...

Ight, so about my exciting day I told ya about...

Today was my first day working with this organization called the Social Services of Hip Hop as an intern... I am soooo excited about working with this org and helping grow its brand... everything that they are working on just seems so interesting and I'm looking forward to getting into it all...

I met with Jineea Butler, who is running the org, at her apartment in Harlem and I also met another intern... we basically spent 5 hours talking about the program, Jineea was schooling us about what she was working on, we told her about where we were coming from and what we wanted to do, we talked about the NBA Finals lol, we talked about some upcoming events, and I really can not wait to get started and learn more about SSHipHop... working on this is probably closest to what I envisioned myself doing as a career than anything else I have done, so I am very very ready to get it crackin lol...

...my first assignment is to critique the website, ya can help if you want to... this is the website=> ss-hiphop.com... let me know what you think...

this next week is going to be a nice ease into seeing what the org does... thursday we are going to a school in the Bronx to see one of the programs, Friday we are going to a recording studio, Sunday we are going to a performance space to see the space and sit in on a rehearsal, and then next week Thursday we will be working at the performance... if the performance is open to everyone I will post more info about it here...

... GRIND SEASON IS STILL OPEN... THIS SUMMER IS GOING TO BE INTERESTING...

Men.Style.Com 10 Essentials: Kanye West

In an installment of Men.Style.Com's "10 Essentials" series, Kanye West goes through his 10 must have fashion pieces... (I've included pics of some of the ones I really like or agree with)

1. Heather-Gray Balmain T-Shirt

-My favorite of the 3, I really really REALLY wish I owned these...

3. Dark-Brown RRL Jeans In Slim Boot Cut

4. iPod Nano, iPhone, and MacBook Air with AirCard

5. Vintage Levi's Jean Jacket

-I've been thinking about doing the jean jacket thing, but I don't think I can pull it off as well as Ye does... recently saw Drake rockin' it pretty well at Summer Jam '09

6. Blacked-Out Rolex Submariner

7. Calvin Klein Boxer Briefs

8. Lanvin Seersucker Dinner Jacket

9. Louis Vuitton Monogramouflage KeepAll

-Man bag!!!! yes, I am with it!!!! lol

10. Retro Super Future Flat-Top Sunglasses

... I think these style essentials are very nice, basic pieces... kind of an everyman's essential list lol, only Kanye's is just a bit more... but I mean think about it: a basic t-shirt, shoe, pant, music player, phone, computer, jacket, watch, underwear, blazer, bag, and glasses...

The Bible According to Goggle Earth

swipes: creative review

Scenes from the Bible have been imagined by countless artists over the centuries, but never quite like this. God's Eye View portrays four key Biblical events as if captured by Google Earth.

It's the work of Sydney-based "creative collective" The Glue Society. The project was commissioned by Eric Romano of Pulse Art, New York for its Miami art fair. Romano had seen the group's Hot with a Chance of a Late Storm installation, a comment on global warming in which a melting ice cream van oozed across the promenade and onto the sand at Tamarama in Australia last year as part of Sydney’s Sculpture by the Sea event, and commisssioned them to create this new work.

Weekend Review: June 5th- June 7th

Friday June 5th:

Went to the place called Eden (8th Ave between 46th and 47th Street)... the entrance was this random door with a bouncer standing in front, walked past it twice before I realiezed I was there lol... I was with my brother and we were going to a friend of mine's birthday party... walked up 2 flights of stairs and then we were finally at the place...

...it wasn't bad, it's pretty small, but its dope because it has an outside area... so in total there are 2 dance floors, a bunch of seating, one main VIP seating area, one DJ booth, and 2 bars... probably a maxium capacity of about 200-250 people, including the outside area, so its a pretty small venue... if Friday night had been nicer it would have been really cool cause we could've been outside partying, but all in all it was tight... despite what the pic with a bottle in my hand suggest, I only had one drink, big brother got me a rum and coke when we got there...

Saturday June 6th:

So I was supposed to accompany my boy Mike to some fish fry (yeah, for real lol) in Wash Heights, but we started the night at my friend Keenan's house and never left lol... it was me, Mike, Keenan, my boy Jonathan (aka J. Storm, aka I.Q.) and my boy Sean (aka Cappo), and we were listening to music at first, then started listening to instrumentals... Sean and Jonathan just started freestyling out of nowhere lol... now see, Sean and Jonathan rhyme and everybody knows that, but only Mike and Keenan know that I rhyme... and then I joined in on the freestyling and spit some ill ish... then we decided to start recording the freestyles and we have a bunch of footage now lol... I'm just waiting on Mike to get me those videos and they will def be up here...

Sunday June 7th:

Went to shorty's house and chilled with the fam... watched the game (sorry Orlando, that was def ya game to win...)... sunday was pretty chill...

Comedy Greats: Rodney Dangerfield

trying out this new segment for the blog, and I know Ra would probably have some good ones for this so lets see if we can do this every so often...

..lets start it up with a very hilarious man... Rodney Dangerfield... got this idea from watching Jay Leno's last Tonight Show, and he attributes one of his sketches to Rodney Dangerfield and then they played some clips from the comedy legend that were fricken hilarious

couldn't find it, but I found this and it had me cracking up...

^
^
^
I think this man was pure comedy gold lol... here are some more classics from the late Mr. Dangerfield...

-Last week I told my psychiatrist, "I keep thinking about suicide." He told me from now on I have to pay in advance.

-When I was a kid I got no respect. The time I was kidnapped, and the kidnappers sent my parents a note they said, "We want five thousand dollars or you’ll see your kid again.

-My wife and I were happy for twenty years. Then we met.

-My mother never breastfed me. She told me that she only liked me as a friend.

-I could tell that my parents hated me. My bath toys were a toaster and a radio.

-When my old man wanted sex, my mother would show him a picture of me.

-I’m a bad lover. Once I caught a peeping tom booing me.

-Last night my wife met me at the front door. She was wearing a sexy negligee. The only trouble was, she was coming home.

-A hooker once told me she had a headache.

.... oh man, I am crackin' up as I blog, truely LOL'ing hahahaha...

I know I'm late on this one but oh well...

I heard my boy playing this song in his room while I was at Cornell this weekend (Congrats Grads!). Nye had a post a while back about auto-tune and it's popularity, and it's definitely saturated the market. Jamie Foxx and B.E.P are the latest with very prevalent auto-tune vocals. The person responsible for this trend I would say is undoubted to be T-Pain. He knows it too I guess. I love the intro. Lol.

Grind Season is Officially OPEN!!!

what up blog world???

I am back off hiatus, had to redirect my life and get myself back on track... and that has officially been taken care of! I'm good (in my own mind), and now that I feel good about the next stages in my life, I can attempt to move towards them... with that being said....

PassengerFlow! presents City Knights: The Album.... def coming Summer 09, Ra and I will hook it up and of course you will hear it first here!!!! and the myspace as well lol

...I've also decided I want to just flood the outlets available to me with as much material as I can, so look out for a bunch of projects to just pop up out of no where... hopefully a Varsity Gang reunion will pop off very shortly in NYC, look out for a mixtape or some random joints with some old friends (Sir Jonez, Mr. Young, holla at me).... we're gonna make it happen...

... summer time is looking real good right now, just got to find a job on the books and I'll be straight! haha!

NIce

I have to say, not much amazes me these days. But this is pretty damn cool. I some real skill in this. I don't want to say anything to ruin it so yeah... enjoy....'til later...
\\\That Guy Ra.///

A small detour.

Alright, on a serious note, Nye and I have a very close friend who we lost 2 years ago. Today would be his 22 birthday. So I just want to take this opportunity to put one up for my boy J.E.T., Joseph Edward Teal II. Always in my thoughts, we carry your memory with us so you'll always be apart of whatever we achieve. There are more details to go into but, they will be in a song that Nye and I are working on. So for now R.I.P man, love always, happy birthday.

So...um...yeah

So it's about 4AM and I have a final and 4 papers due tomorrow. The majority of which is not done. But I pull this off and graduation becomes a little bit more real. It's just another step, but kinda my final hurdle. Wish me luck people! I will need it. Updates to come...I hope.

Swine Flu... oh really.

So this big story this week as been this swine flu thing. Anyone else think there's something weird about this? I mean the big story 2 weeks ago was the drug war and worry if it was going to spill over into the U.S from MEXICO, and this week there's a new disease that has it's apparent origin in MEXICO. Really? According to what I've heard this swine flu is a mixture of different viruses that does not occur in nature, so it's likely made in a lab somewhere. But what I'm the most skeptical about is the fact that is seems like ever year there's a new virus of disease that the news gets into an uproar about and then it goes away. Like we have to be kept in fear for a certain amount of days or have our attention diverted. Anyone remember the West Nile virus, SARS, the Staph from last year. Either the government is killing people and blaming it on some new virus each year or they just keep getting created and spread. my point if, pay attention people. don't take what you're told for face value. More may be going on. Even if it's not the extremes I said.

One Nye will like...

So last night at a Clark party (in a night the ended up pretty crazy). I saw something that I have not come across very often if at all. I honestly don't remember if I've ever saw a white girl try to pull off dread locks before. But last night I did. I've seen plenty of white guys try to pull it off but no that many girls. Needless to say it was interesting.

Rising Up- The Roots featuring Chrisette Michelle and Wale

^
^
not so new, but still really good... have had it stuck in my head for a little minute so figured it was a sign (as I always do)...

I got inspired from a open mic I performed at last night at Amherst College, might have something to blog about in terms of that shortly... we'll see...

\\\NYe.///

"NO SUCH THING"

So right now I'm sitting in the room of one of my best friends chilling in Worcester Massachusetts at Clark U. Gonna swing by Amherst to see ya boy Nye on Saturday. Chilling with these guys always makes me reminisce. And in the midst of thinking about how far we've come I started thinking seriously about where we are going. It's kinda setting in that in the next few weeks and months all of my friends will be taking their last college classes. We're all one step away from tripping and falling flat on our faces in the real world. For some this is that scary part of life cause lets be honest, there are 3 types of people at this point. Those who've had a dream job since they learn their alphabet and have spent their whole lives pursuing it. Those who in up in some kind of job after college and end up sticking with it because of comfort. Then there are those who take what they see and find their own way. Now depending on where you went to school there may be different proportions of the first but i think the vast majority of us fall in the second 2. AND THAT'S OKAY! That kinda the way it's been. We don't know whats gonna happen tomorrow but as long as your trying to do something, something will get done. Take whatever opportunity you have in front of you and see where it takes you. If it doesn't work out, fine, you're still young. I don't worry, and I have no idea what I'm gonna be doing a year from now. NOT A CLUE. I'm just trying to enjoy myself. I'm 22 years old. That means I'm officially IN my 20's I'm gonna have fun cause I don't wanna wake up one day and suddenly be 30, feeling like I wasted my youth. I'm gonna find my own way in life and I most likely won't use my degree. Don't get me wrong I kinda do know the WHAT of my life's goals but still trying to figure out the HOW. My friends are already staring out to do big things. Some are doing huge things like making Hollywood movies or going to Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar (yeah, really). I accept them for the special cases as they are and as inspiration that things can come together in my life. Come August, I am officially at the mercy of the fabled "real world" and you know what, we'll just have to see how that goes. All I can say for sure is that I will face it with my head up and without fear. I hope if you are in similar shoes as me you'll do the same. We're gonna make it.

HOLLA-NYe.

F**k A Tweet.... lmao

So I've been thinking about it, and as of right now, I'm against joining twitter...

Now here is my very selfish reason.... you ready....

When it comes to all things NYe., all things PassengerFlow!, when anyone anywhere is wondering what's going on in my world, I want them to come HERE first... lol

It makes sense, right?... see right now I'm all about the quick, random post, especially since I set up my mobile bloggin' joint (which I'm using right now)... and that would basically be a tweet, and if I used twitter, I'd just be promoting them, and I'd much rather just promot my blog, so it works in my favor....

.... just got to make this blog more popular lol... it'll happen...soon enough, soon enough

...'til later...

HOLLA- NYe.

Look who's here.../ Friends, how many of us have them

Hello web world... or the 3 other people besides myself that read Ron's blog.
It is I, the best friend and brother from another mother know as Ra. He put me on so now and then I'll be dropping whatever random thoughts I'm having for you visual and intellectual enjoyment. I'm a kinda bugged person with some strange experiences in life so this might be interesting. I started writing this not sure what I was going to drop here but what's coming to mind right now is the creator of this blog. Mainly because he put me on it and I just got off the phone with him.

So here goes...
My current profile picture... should be in the dictionary under the phrase "best friend". Even fictional best friends don't touch us. We're the real deal, complete with secret hand shake and buddy phrase. Me and this guy go way back and I don't know where either of us would be without the other. Over the years we have developed a dynamic that I influence him with my free spirit while he keeps my crazy ass grounded, basically completing a balance. We share so many inside jokes we could write a book on them. But we never will, cause then they would cease to be inside jokes (duh!). I've been through so much with this dude, the phrase "growing up together" almost doesn't do it justice. As he stated in his intro we also are working on music; some of which will be posted on this blog soon. Nye willing that is. I'm happy about where that is going, he's nice, constantly making me want to step up my game. One thing he told me he once said about us is that he doesn't think he'll ever find another person so similar to him but yet different in so many ways, I agree. But before I get all mushy about this, I'll get to something else, I just thought my first order of business should be to shout out my boy. Love you kid (pause, lmao).

"FIFTH TO FUTURE - FIFTH GRADE TO THE GRAVE"

I was going to post the 5th grade class pic but the world doesn't need to see that, right?

Solange- T.O.N.Y.

so turns out Solange is actually mad good lol... def slept on her when she first tried to come out, but she is def not a little Beyonce like I thought... she has a real nice sound, and has def come into her own with her second album... clearly I am mad late on this because her album came out in Aug 2008... titled "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams", I just saw this video (which I am assuming is her latest single)... she sounds real good, and she looks even better lol...

^

"Sol-angel..." just might have to get copped, I also like I Decided: Part 2...

Kid CuDi, I see you... that's how you know you're whats up... you get to be the significant other in the music video... I wanna be that lol... Rihanna holla, Solange holla, Keri holla (I see you Kanye in that Make Love video)... like when you are not on the song and they just want you to act in the video, I think that is a good look and says something about your celebrity and swag...

...sigh, one day... one day... lol

Me, Myself, and the Myers-Briggs (swipe, haha)

just walking around, giving directions to the pool, and not much else here at work...

checked out D's blog like I said I would, found out about the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test... it basically says what "type" of person you are and gives careers that would suit your type... me being bored at work, I tried it (and also stole the title of her post lol)....

You Are An ENFJ

The Giver

You strive to maintain harmony in relationships, and you usually succeed.

Articulate and enthusiastic, you are good at making personal connections.

Sometimes you idealize relationships too much - and end up being let down.

You find the most energy and comfort in social situations ... where you shine.

In love, you are very protective and supporting.

However, you do need to "feel special" - and it's quite easy for you to get jealous.

At work, you are a natural leader. You can help people discover their greatest potential.

You would make a good writer, human resources director, or psychologist.

How you see yourself: Trusting, idealistic, and expressive

When other people don't get you, they see you as: Bossy, inappropriate, and loud

pretty intersting, fairly accurate lol, it was interesting to see the results... if you are reading this I would suggest trying it out for fun...

Besides my skull....

Saturday afternoon, and it is BEAUTIFUL here in the town of Amherst... sigh, and I am stuck at work for another 3 hours....

so what's on my mind (besides my skull)....

1. how much I wish I could be outside right now
2. how I am going to make more money next weekend working an extra shift
3. how I am going to lose money giving up a shift in 2 weekends because of my dance show
4. how I need to tell D that my dance show is in 2 weekends (and this is me telling you D lol)
5. it is HOT in this lobby that I have to sit at
6. D updated her blog, must check that out
7. I want to write a new song soooo badly
8. I want to record a new song soooo badly
9. I think I am going to post a rough cut of a song today
10. I'm hungry.....

I have a feeling work is going to drag today... oh well, I want to blog like a mad blogger anyways hehehe <== little kid laugh....

oh yeah, I have to go to a cultural event with shorty tonight, tryna figure out exactly how I want to dress. It is so hot outside, but I'm sure it will be cooler tonight when I go.... as of now I'm thinkin light jeans, tan V-neck sweater, Ferris Bueller dunks... maybe...

B.O.B.- Autotune

hilarious....

ok so here is my feeling on autotune... i think that when used to create a specific sound its cool. like if you are going for that robotic sound, i think it actually sounds mad hot. i def intend on working with it if given the chance. but i think that if it MAKES the song, then its weak. like if the only reason im listening is because the sound is cool, you are just wack. kanye, t-pain, wayne, when they use it, it sounds mad good, but there is still substance behind their work (for the most part). and ive heard artist use it where it only enhanced the song, it didnt overtake the other elements of the song (listen to Shooting Star by Steph Jones). so there it is....

...and like i said, i WILL be using some voice effects in the future lol. look forward to it, it will be ridic...
